Low Light Photography in Mixed Lighting
Taught by Terry Adams*
Learn how to frame a compelling composition with proper exposure for a sharp image when shooting in low light with a hand held camera (and what to look for as an additional support). In many situations you don't want to call attention to yourself by setting up a big tripod, plus avoiding the question of a tripod permit. We'll have some instruction, on location shooting, followed by critique and instruction on processing the images to go beyond what the camera records. This workshop will cover the steps from camera setup and operation, through image creation and processing to create a unique final photograph.
DATE: Thursday, October 25, 2012. 4:00 - 7:30 PM..
On location, we will discover urban subjects that have a unique look in artificial light. We will photograph through twilight and sunset, enjoying the mix of natural skylight and artificial light. The colors of artificial lights will provide a unique palette for our photographs, while we acquire techniques for maintaining sharpness and focus while the light fades.
DATE: Saturday, October 27, 9:00 AM – Noon.
We will learn how to reduce the noise in our images and enhance the color, exposure, and sharpness characteristics to make the photographs more compelling than the camera will produce alone.
