I have been working in Africa for 27 years photographing international aid and relief work and have traveled to 21 countries on photo assignments with ten UN agencies and many non-profit organizations. In 2011 my first children's book was published, "Beatrice's Dream: A Story of Kibera Slum", a photo essay about an orphaned girl living in one of the largest slums in Africa. In 2012 I received a grant from the US Embassy in Nairobi to facilitate photography workshops for vulnerable adolescent girls, empowering them to tell their personal stories in photos. Between 2004-2010 I designed major photo exhibitions for the Headquarters of the Ford Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Centers for Disease Control and the World AgroForestry Center in Nairobi. In the 1990's I worked as a news photographer and covered the war in Somalia and Sudan as well as famines, droughts and floods in the region. My photos were published in Time Magazine and Newsweek. I am represented by Corbis Photo Agency in New York City. I am currently living and working in New York City and divide my time between NYC and Kenya.
