Member Profile: Seena Sussman

closeI am a New York-based photographer with a long career in advertising art, fashion and travel photography. In the late 1980’s, traveling and working extensively in the United States, Europe, Mexico, Africa and the Caribbean, I found myself drawn more and more to photographing people simply where I found them, looking for both the familiar and the unexpected; on the streets, in boxing clubs, crisis centers, subways and cafes. I work to capture people in their own space, on their own terms, in those fleeting moments when pretext hopefully disappears. My goal is to have viewers see something of themselves in those I photograph and to recognize the humanness that binds us.
