Harvey Stein is a long time faculty member at the International Center of Photography in New York City and has also taught at the Rochester Institute of Technology and Drew University among several other universities.  He frequently leads workshops and lectures worldwide.  He is the Director of Photography at Umbrella Arts Gallery, NYC and has curated 47 exhibits since 2007.  Stein has had 81 solo exhibitions and has participated in over 160 group shows.  He has published seven books of photography: Parallels: A Look at Twins (1978), Artists Observed (1986), Coney Island (1997), Movimento: Glimpses of Italian Street Life (2006), Coney Island 40 Years (2011), Harlem Street Portraits (2013), and his latest book, Briefly Seen New York Street Life (2015).  He is working on his third Coney Island book, which will represent 50 years of photographing at this iconic American site.  Stein's work is in over 57 public collections; he is represented by the Bruce Silverstein Gallery, Throckmorton Fine Art and June Bateman Fine Art.
