6:30: Victoria Schultz
Born in Finland, Victoria Schultz arrived in NY in 1968. Already a photographer, she got an MA at Columbia in photojournalism in both film & photography. During 70's she reported daily to Finnish Radio on the turmoil in NY, the US, Latin America & the Nicaraguan Revolution...where she made a film 'Women in Arms'. Hired by the UN as a filmmaker/producer covering trouble spots around the world, for the United Nations Mission for many years, she was sent to make a film of the search for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. As a UN TV producer for many years, (take this out) her documentaries where shown world wide. Stationed for the UN in post war Kosovo, Victoria also reported for CNN. She left the UN to focus on her own analog photography and got hooked on the sensuous quality of large format black & white film. 'Although my photo series are intensely personal, the years I spent occupied with global concerns often seeps into my personal photography' , which is what she'll be showing on May 6th.
The lecture is free for PWP members, $10 for non-members (pay at the door). It is open to the public, and guests are welcome. It will take place on Wednesday, May 6th at 6:30 pm, at the Metropolitan Opera Guild. Contact info@pwponline.org for more information.
