PWP is sad to announce the passing of member Sally Minker. Sally was a fine artist and graphic designer who shared her abundant talent with the organization by putting together publicity materials for shows and exhibiting her work. Most of all, she was a warm and encouraging member, a friend to many, a funny and gracious presence at meetings and events.

Sally received her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute, and her MFA from the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. She won grants and awards from the Artists Space in New York City, the Connemara Conservancy in Dallas, and the Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Art and Culture in Baltimore. Her work has been exhibited widely in group and solo exhibitions in the United States and Europe, including shows at the Brooklyn Museum, HERE Art, The Snug Harbor Art Center, and the Areale99 International Kunstfestival in Germany. Her work is in the collections of the Brooklyn Museum and William Paterson University.

She was a supporter of women’s rights and PWP recently featured some of her images from the Women’s March on our blog. On a card to Sally, here is what some of her fellow members said about her:

Sally leaves behind a husband and 15 year-old son who exhibited courage, grace, and devotion throughout her illness, along with many friends in the art and photo community.
