On 4/23, Esther Babb participated in The Self Portrait Project, a one-day exhibition of artists from around the world, at the Brooklyn Art Library. A book will be published documenting the project. == Irma Bohórquez-Geisler had a solo show, MEXICANation, at Snug Harbor Cultural Center in Staten Island from 4/6-5/31. The show was in conjunction with Immigrant Heritage Week, a citywide celebration that honors the experiences and contributions of immigrants in New York City with free or low-cost programs that build cross-cultural understanding among New Yorkers. == Susan Bowen had six pieces in Holga Inspire, at the Gallery at Hallmark in Turner Falls, MA from 5/7-30, and two of her images were selected for Art and Agriculture 2010 at Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River, OR from 5/7-30. Susan also participated in the 15th Annual Members Juried Show at Soho Photo Gallery, NYC from 4/1-5/1, and she was in Fresh Fairs 2010, at Pier 59 Studios in Santa Monica CA from 4/23-25. == The Landscape of Memory, a solo exhibition of over twenty-five pieces from Ann Brandeis‘s series of the same name, was at the Gallery of the Riverhead Free Library, Riverhead, NY from 4/4-5/31. This show first debuted at the New York Hall of Science in 2006. == Sandra Gottlieb had a solo show, Images of the Sea, at the Alden B. Dow Museum of Science & Art in Midland, MI from 1/23-4/25. The exhibit consisted of thirty large pieces (up to 50″) in two rooms, as part of a large exhibition relating to water called “WaterWorks.€ == Mary Heller had a solo exhibition, Fine Art Photography, at Sunita’s Bar, NYC from 2/25-4/25. == Theresa King curated Moment to Moment – Consistency and Change, a four-person show at Westbeth Gallery, NYC from 4/10-5/2, in which she showed forty-two photographs. == Susan Ledwith had several photos in Vernal Variations, an exhibition sponsored by the Staten Island Creative Community, at Art at Bay in Staten Island from 4/2-25. == Laurie Rhodes had work in an international documentary photography exhibition, Building an Ethical Economy: Theology and the Marketplace, at the Trinity Church Museum, NYC from 1/25-4/5. On 4/26, Irma Bohórquez-Geisler showed several photographs to accompany an academic talk on “Emigration and the Mexican State,€ at Barnard College, NYC. == Ruth Gitto is conducting one-day photography workshops from April through October. Her Foto Safaris, using New York City as subject matter, take place once a week, and are limited to five participants per Safari. PWP members can receive a 25% discount. == On 4/14, Andy Mars presented a Mixed Media Photography Workshop at her New York apartment. == During the month of May, Roz Rosenblum judged two photography competitions. On 5/3 she was at the Manhattan Miniature Camera Club, and on 5/24 she was at the Ocean County Camera Club in Lakewood, NJ. On 4/8, Roz presented a lecture, “The Art of Seeing€ at the Vailsburg Camera Club in Springfield, NJ, and on 4/19, and she presented “Australia/New Zealand€ to the Photographers of Sussex County in Augusta, NJ. Also, on 4/15, Roz judged a competition at the Color Photographers Club of Staten Island. == Daryl-Ann Saunders was selected to participate in a new Artist-in-Residency program launched by the Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC), in partnership with the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and the New York City Department for the Aging. At the Diana H. Jones Senior Citizen Center in Bushwick, Brooklyn, Daryl-Ann will set up a photo studio for six months. Then, she’ll work on her proposed project, The Pioneers of Bushwick, which will commemorate long-time area residents through portrait sessions and written text of their experiences. This book, which contains many iconic figures spanning over fifty years of work, also includes images by Alyce Mayo and several former PWP members, including a 1937 photograph by Rebecca Lepkoff. == In early summer, an image by Sonia Leon will be on the cover of the next (third) issue of Imprints, the new publication of Professional Women Photographers. == A photo by Holly Gordon was on the cover the February/March issue of Creations Magazine, a Long Island bi-monthly publication.
