May 4, 2010 New York, NY: The subtle touch of hand to cheek, the overpowering emotion behind a passionate embrace, a playful spark in a woman’s eye while gazing upon her beloved.  The displays of affection are as varied as the ways to photograph the sentiment.

Members of Professional Women Photographers (PWP), an organization of over 250 women, working as photojournalists, fine arts and commercial photographers, portray affection through the lens in this exciting new exhibit at Calumet Photo.

From the physical to the intangible, from people to possessions, from places to passions, “Objects of Affection€ is a potpourri of what brings us joy. Photographs have long been objects of affection, from the crumpled snapshot kept in a soldier’s breast pocket, to the family portrait hung above the fireplace with pride.  PWP presents a photography exhibit straight from the heart, which will undoubtedly find a place within yours.

To mark the opening of “Objects of Affection€ Calumet Photo and PWP invite the press and public to a reception in the gallery on Wednesday evening, July 28, 2010 from 6 – 8 PM, 22 W. 22nd Street (between 5th and 6th Aves.), 212.989.8500. The exhibition will be on view July 28 – August 13, 2010. Gallery hours are Weekdays, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM and Saturday, 9 AM to 5:30 PM.

Professional Women Photographers is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization based in New York City.  PWP has been supporting the work of women photographers for over 30 years, providing forums and student awards to encourage artistic growth and to stimulate public interest in the art of photography.
